Family

Uh, how large was your family?

Just me. I'm the only child of my mother and father.

Um, did they have brothers and sisters? Did you have cousins?

Uh, my mother had a brother who came to America as a teenager, way, way before the war and they were never in touch. We never heard from them. My father had a lot of brothers and sisters and one came to America--one brother with his family, 1938 before the war and they brought my grandmother, you know their fa...mother with them. My grandfather had died already. And everyone else was killed, no one else was left.

Um, how many do you think died in the war?

From my family? Well, my grandparents on my mother's side, my mother, um, all my father's brothers and sisters and their husband and wife.

Approximately, thirty? Twenty five?

Yeah, I would say.

Were you all German Jews?

Yes we were all go all Germany, yeah.

Do you know how far back your family goes into Germany?

I don't. But I know it was all Germans were...

Your grandparents were?

Grandparents. Yes, yes definitely.
