Husband's Problem with the Iron Guard
Yeah.
It was uh, and then when, when they started to allow people, you know, to, to go to... I mean, Romania is very anti-Semitic because uh, all the eastern countries, except for Czechoslovakia are very anti-Semitic. Hungary was also, it was less anti-Semitic than Romania. But uh, Romania, Poland you probably know about it, you know, Russia. These were very anti-Semitic countries and the laws were very much against the Jewish, you know. I mean now, after the war the Communist regime uh, it was meant that, now there's more equality. It's exactly equality in Russia, you know. Of course you can be a big scientist as long as you give them everything and you don't want anything for yourself. So my, my husband, I mean Vlasopolos, he was not, he was not Jewish. But he had only Jewish friend. I had some Gentile friends but he didn't. He was Greek and he, he lived in a, in a town where there were a lot of Jews and he, he was very, very good friends with the Jewish people. And uh, he was much more prejudiced, you know, against the Gentiles than, than I was. It was like, I, I even told him ??? famous ??? my daughter wrote an article in the Free Press, it was an answer. ??? beat him up, but not because he was Jewish, because he looked Jewish and because he was Greek. So ??? was against the Greeks too and nobody ever, you know, mentioned this. I called up once Channel 7 and they wanted to make a big show, you know, being in ??? I didn't want that, you know, I really didn't want. And then they gave up. But I called them up and I said, why, why do you have any, any nice words about ??? because he was a, I, I mean, he was a jerk. He was a leader of the Iron Guard, you know, and so on. And uh, then there was something, I don't know, in the Free Press and my daughter wrote a letter to the editor and they didn't publish it and she insisted. And then they published.
