Marriage

How old were you when you got married?

I, I wasn't young, I was twenty-six years old already. I, I had my husband for four years, he was my boyfriend for four years. And that was difficult because the family, his family, his mother didn't want him to me marry me because they were landowners and I didn't have a do... dowry.

Dowry.

Dowry. So, she didn't want him to marry me and it took us four years until we settled that we finally, regardless of what she said, we got married.

And then what happened?

And then, but he wasn't my boyfriend in, in understanding of, of American way. We didn't sleep together.

Oh, I see, but he was your fiancé?

Yeah.

So then you had to live with the mother-in-law?
