Introduction

The following is an interview with Mr. Abraham Mondry at his home in Oak Park, Michigan on the morning of June 15, 1992. The interviewer is Sidney Bolkosky.

Could you tell me your name please and where you are from.

A...Abraham Mondry.

And where are you from?

I am born in Poland, Mlawa.

Um...

And Mlawa, this is about 200 kilometers from Königsberg.

In the Polish corridor?

Yeah, right in the corridor, right where the war starts, right...the corridor.

Uh-huh, c...could you tell me what you remember, a little bit about life in Mlawa before the war started?

Before the war, well I come from a very religious family.

Mm-hm.

It was strict religious, you know. I mean, I wasn't, but my family had to keep up.
