Conclusion

But--do you think by re...by educating people about what went on then perhaps we can help to keep it...

Oh, there's no question about it. There's no...

...happening again.

...there's no question about it. Educating people, yes.

Well, do you think these tapes will be helpful?

Why not? If somebody wants to understand it. But...

But even the tape doesn't in the least bit show the...

It, it probably--I don't know what to say, but it affects me. I feel sorry for people if I heard people suffered. Even if I, if I hear Arabs suffer, I, I feel sorry for them, if they're innocent.

The Arabs.

Yeah. I, I felt very bad about the, the, the war in Vietnam. Because my, my common sense told me that it's a wasted effort. That people are dying for nothing. That it would make no difference to us who rules over there. You know, and that trouble with people who got that kind of sentiment that, that, that will bother people. They will say, "I, I got to do my part that things like this should never happen again." And there is a lot of people who just don't care. There was a lot of people during the war even this country--Jews and non-Jews--who, they knew what's happened. And they're going on with their business like, like nothing.

How do you feel the American Jews react to you your experiences?

I don't know what to say. I haven't got the--I really have been, since, since after the war--since I came to Sweden, I have been--I depended just on myself. I understand that, that it hurts American Jewish population basically what happened. Even, even the young generation who were born after it.

Mm-hm.

Let go the older generation mostly everybody got involved personally with the relatives and things like this, you know.

Well, I want to thank you very much...

Okay.

...for all your time. And I want to make sure that you are aware that this tape is going to be kept in the Holocaust Memorial Center and that it's for public use.

That's okay. There's no secret.

Okay, thank you very much.

You're welcome.
