Being Drafted into the American Army

And then you were in the Korean War?

Yeah, I was drafted into the service and I went through basic training. And while I was in basic training I wanted to get into--very much wanted get into interpreter school and or whatever and I took tests for that and out of basic training they sent me to Fort Meade, Maryland to interpreter school in military intelligence. I had a good education there. And then when we graduated from there they sent us, you know, well it's a long story but anyway I wound up in Germany and while I was there again I, I took a lot of classes for--I spent a lot of time in library and learning. Then I went--while I was in Germany I went to non-commissioned officers training in Munich. That was a special school for non-commissioned officers and when I graduated they wanted me to sign up for another three years and uh, of course I wasn't going to and they were very disappointed. And then I came back to the States ???.
