Did you know anybody in Detroit?
I had a couple friends that we were in camp together. We were in camp together and uh, in displaced person camp together, not in the other camps. We were, we were in the same camps--not together. So uh, and I wrote 'em about it. So they told, "Come down here. The, the--here is entirely different." So I said, "I just cannot drop and go. First of all I don't have any money. Where will I go without money?" So I, I said, "I'll tell you what, I'll take a vacation between Christmas and New Years under this disguise, you know, I'm not going to spill, you know, before I got something else." So I uh, took vacation between Christmas and New Year, came down here and never went back. I came back for my stuff and my old lady said, "I bet you, you got a job there and you'll never come back." Sure enough. Now I'm here.
