Being Arrested

...uh, when they came and arrested us in 1930--in '40--home arrest...

In Pinsk?

Yeah, they were--they looked like officers, you know, high officers--Russians. And we were talking and they said, "Stop talking," but they understood every word we said because we were speaking Jewish...

Yiddish.

Yiddish, and they understood because they were Jews too.

Wife: The White Russians doing Shabbat still.

This was the Russian army.

So these, these Jews were in the Russian army...

Yes.

...and they were the ones that were picked to arrest you.

Yes, and they said that they're just doing their job.

Wife: ???

What?

Wife: ??? There was lots of good things and a lot of, a lot of bad. The war ...

That's what I say uh, there was the KGB.

Wife: There was like a lots of Germans too that came to arrest us and they were good Germans and the Jews just did, just did the job, they worked there.
